One of the highlights of the evening was the participation of the "Evergreens". Their joy was contagious.

And from Joanne, a PK (pastor's kid) from Ipoh.
Phoneremos is a combination of the Greek words which mean "voice in the wilderness". This blog is to keep track of the ministry of Colin and Julia Hurt in bringing God's word to the wilderness of this world. We see the church as a modern day John the Baptist, preparing people for the coming of the Lord.
Yesterday, 18th August I arrived back from Kenya. After a bit of a scare with my suitcase, which was still in Cairo when I was in Nairobi, the missions visit there was very fruitful. On Sunday 10th August I ministered in The Missions Outreach Church in Kibera, which they claim is the largest slum in the world with 1.3 million people living there. It was also the place where most people were slaughtered during the post election violence last year. It was very humbling to see the great work the pastor, Nicholas Mulea is doing there, with a school for over 350 children and programmes for feeding the poor etc.
On Monday, 11th August we travelled on to Mtito where I spoke to a group of local pastors who had waited patiently for over four hours because we were delayed on the way.
On Tuesday, 12th August we went on to Voi (spending a few hours in the Safari Park on the way) for the Holy Ghost Fire Conference, where the theme was “living above the level of mediocrity”. The whole conference, from Wednesday to Sunday, was a real blessing, with vibrant Kenyan worship and ministry of the word from myself, John Oakley, Stephen Tee from Malaysia and several Kenyan brothers and sisters.
Our future schedule looks like this:
